Who we are
The FOCUS StaffFriends of Overseas Citizens and University Students is a coalition of non-profit organizations, churches, campus ministries and individuals in the Portland metropolitan area that collectively provides support and unconditional friendship for international citizens and university students as a practical expression of Gods love for people from all nations. FOCUS functions as a community-based service organization at Portland State University.
FOCUS works closely with the university adhering to the highest possible ethical standards as established by NAFSA Association of International Educators and the Association of Christians Ministering to Internationals (ACMI). See the NAFSA code of ethics
The purpose of our Home Page is to contribute to creating a "community" of international and American friends-- a meeting place to stay in touch with what's happening and with each other.
If you are an international student or friend of FOCUS, we invite you to send us your links as well as share ideas you might have to make this a better web site for all of us.
We also invite you to join us Friday nights at 7pm during the school year at the FOCUS Coffeehouse, which meets in the basement of First Baptist Church at 909 SW 11th Ave, on Taylor between 11th and 12th Ave. (click here to see a map).
